It seems to be a weekend of things failing to work.
The video appears to have finally ceased to record. It didn't record Dr Who and it didn't record HIGNFY either. Fortunately I was in the house and able to watch in realtime - which was just as well, I'm so glad I didn't miss Brian Blessed!
I suppose I can always pick up a cheap replacement in Asda (video that is, not Brian Blessed, though if anyone knows of a place...). I know there are recordable DVD players etc but that will come in time. I just need to be able to do some time-shifting.
More seriously, the central heating seems to have decided it's summer. I have known that this was coming for some time but was never able to set aside some cash to get it looked at. With the main reason for this having now left the building I will have to see what can be done. Someone gave me the name of a guy who can be trusted to only do those repairs that are required as opposed to making up stories so I will need build up a fund and then give him a call.
In the meantime if it gets cold I will just need to wear my Viking tunics around the house. I've done this before, when I lived in a flat with no central heating. It worked very well. (So what if the Jehovah's Witnesses should come to the door?)
I have also had a few twinges from my back when I turned to switch off a plug, signifying that I really need to do some work on my muscles - NOW! As in use it or seriously lose it. If I don't pay attention to what I'm being told I will end up even more unfit that I currently am, and I can't be having that. I know what to do (did I not do the YMCA fitness instructor course in weight-training and circuit training?) so I really have no excuse - other than laziness.
I'm going to be going out to the laundrette shortly (that's another thing that ceased working some time ago and I wasn't able to do anything about it) and then I will head into town. I'm meeting some people for brunch which should be enjoyable.

Further to the non-cooperating video, when I was out today I had a look in Asda. However, they didn't have any videos! I am surprised, I knew the likes of Currys had ceased selling them but I'm sure I saw them in Asda about a month ago.
However, what they did have was a Freeview recorder. I don't really know if they are a good thing or not so if anyone has any experience with them please let me know. It would certainly get around the spaghetti wiring situation I have at present where I have 2 Freeview boxes, one hooked up to the TV and one on the video. It would mean I could record whatever channel I want so it may be the solution to my problem. It is a bit more than I was intending to pay so I would appreciate input on this issue.
I also had a very pleasant brunch in Strata, except they had stopped their brunch menu so it became a long afternoon of lunch. I had the sweet potato and halloumi cheese burger which was lovely. And the portions were huge!
It was a very pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon when Thor seemed to be hanging around, fiddling with his hammer. It's still very humid so maybe he will grace us with his presence yet. I don't mind, he's a good friend.

Pwhoar! Antonio Banderas is on TV!
The video is cooperating! And did so for the Full Monty
